Towan Beach

The westernmost of Newquay’s four beaches, Towan Beach has sands that are suitable for families and cover more than a mile at low tide. The north-facing Towan Beach is the closest of the four beaches to the Newquay town center.

It is one of the most popular beaches in the area because it is easily accessible to everyone and is close to the town center with its shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, restrooms, and other amenities. There is parking in the town center. During busier times, surfing is limited.

On the east end of the beach is a private island that has been featured in several television documentaries. It is connected to the mainland by a short suspension bridge. Newquay harbor is right next to Towan Beach. The Newquay Sealife Centre can be found behind the beach. During the busiest times, lifeguards keep an eye on the beach.

  • Lifeguards: Mid May – September including Easter weekend
  • Dogs allowed year-round
  • Nearest Pay Parking: Manor Car Park (246 spaces).
  • Various restaurants and cafe’s close by
  • Deck Chair hire available from Blue Reef Aquarium
